Bridal boudoir and fine art photos that reflect you!

Bridal boudoir that's just for you

Enter the concept of bridal boudoir, portraiture or fine art photos that are just for you. A stress reliving confidence boosting space to help you recharge, many clients say that these shoots rocket their confidence for the wedding day and beyond.

Gifting is absolutely OK

The first thing to be really clear about here is that this does not mean that you can’t or shouldn’t gift or share your awesome photos with your partner. These photos are yours and you choose with whom you want to share them. However, if you approach it for yourself first and foremost you will get a lot more out of the experience.

Boudoir can actually be whatever you want it to be

I find that ‘boudoir’ is a pretty antiquated term and as such, what it evokes doesn’t properly show us what is possible in this space. This is is why I prefer ‘you-doir’ – no one belongs in a box and women have fought and continue to fight long and hard for self-authority and bodily autonomy.  What it is to feel good, sexy, beautiful, most ourselves, confident, funny, intelligent or a combination of the above is really varied . So this is an opportunity for you to choose how you prefer to be seen or just try out some ideas!

We are multifaceted

We are some many things, one of my lovely hair and makeup artists Gaetana Marjas recently brought up this concept of the faces of self in a recent photo shoot.

“The Japanese saying, “You have three faces: the first face you show to the world, the second face you show to your close friends and your family, and the third face you never show anyone,” invites us to unravel the complexities of our personas.” (source)

From my perspective, this just scratches the surface of the many faces (or personas) we adopt in different life contexts. Often we have become so used to wearing them we don’t know when or with whom to remove them. A photo shoot is by no means going to answer that (I would love it if it could!). Although, it may challenge you to self reflect, challenge societies ideas of beauty and decide what photographic representation feels most true to yourself. This is a space where we can have a tonne of fun and perhaps consider some of these ideas. Equally, you don’t have to, often the shoot in of itself can create a space for this thinking. And, rest assured there is no wrong way of approaching your shoot, it is after all about you!

How much fun are these photos?!

Throughout this post I have featured photos from a recent bridal boudoir boudoir shoot. The below photo is currently featured in the main gallery and I have had multiple brides-to-be comment on how much they love it!

What could your bridal boudoir shoot look like?

Some great questions to ask yourself if you’re planning a bridal boudoir photoshoot:

  • What colours and photo styles do you lean towards?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • What are some of the things/experiences you love most?
  • What makes you feel confident?
  • What could a photo shoot look like for you? Adding balloons, glitter, paint, plants, paper, minimalism, maximalism, on location, in studio and SO much more.
